The Swedes' hot meetings on the beach

Now the swingers clubs are moving to the beaches.

Hundreds of southern Swedes are part of the networks that arrange sex parties on beaches and campsites this summer.

- Mellbystrand is our favorite place, says Anna, 31, who started going to sex meetings with her husband Anders, 33, five years ago.

Summer, sun and heat mean beach life, swimming and cozy barbecue evenings. For swingers (couples who have sex with other couples) it also means moving out of the clubs to special outdoor meeting places.

In southern Sweden, there are several beaches where couples meet other couples or single men and women to change partners or just to socialize and make connections.

The most famous meeting place of them all is Mellbystrand.

- People from all over Sweden make a pilgrimage there to sunbathe, swim and frolic in the dunes. Behind the dunes there is a scrub forest where there is a lot going on during hot summer days, says Jonas Bengtsson, who runs the Lustkammaren online meeting place.

On some sunny and warm days, there can be up to a hundred people on the beach in Mellbystrand. There are usually some couples who are described as "distinct exhibitionists" - they are extra turned on to be watched when they have intercourse with each other - and of course a large number of single guys who want to escape and who hope to be invited to participate in the games.

Special feeling

One of the couples who have been frolicking on the beach in Mellbystrand for several years is Anna and Anders. They drive 1.5 hours just to get there.

- It's worth it. The white sand and the Mediterranean environment are special. And then the opportunity to meet like-minded people...

Swinger life is not just limited to the summer and the beaches for Anna and Anders. They have met both other couples and single guys and girls before, but they find it a special feeling to have sex outdoors.

- It's exciting to know that someone might be watching. We haven't actually had sex with others on the beach yet, but it will certainly happen in the future, says Anna.

Characteristics

According to Jonas Bengtsson, it is more common than you think that couples and singles meet on the beaches.

- But sometimes it is not certain that something will happen on the beach. Sometimes it just works as a meeting place and then you have sex with each other somewhere else, he.

But many cannot wait until later. In the pine forest in Mellbystrand, it is sometimes so hot that RFSL raises its flag in the middle of the thicket and distributes free condoms and lubricant.

There are certain characteristics that signal that the sunbathers on the beach are interested in swinger sex. The red band on the cool bag or sun lounger is a generally accepted characteristic.

- But in my network we have specially designed bath towels. I cannot reveal what they look like. It is only for members, says Jonas Bengtsson.

Must be careful

Sex meetings also take place at Löderup's beach outside Ystad and at the nude pool in Yngsjö south of Åhus. Knähaken south of Helsingborg was a very popular meeting place for gay men a few years ago.

But according to Jonas Bengtsson, it is important that those who want to have sex with others in the open on the beaches show consideration for other bathers.

- It is important to be extremely careful so as not to embarrass families with children. And just because it's a nude pool doesn't mean it's a hangout for swingers.
