It is forbidden, passionate and often unscrupulous.

They meet on beaches and campsites to have sex - and use secret signals to find each other.

- I enjoy being with my wife, but with my mistress I can live out my fantasies, says Joakim, 44, who likes to arrange secret meetings in scenic locations.

Summer, sun and time off means that beaches and bathing areas are filled with Swedes on holiday.

But it's not just ordinary sunbathers who get there.

During the summer months, several of the networks, whose members seek sex with others outdoors, gain significantly more members.

The invitations to campsites and beaches are increasing and there are several networks to join if you are looking for like-minded people.

- In the summer there are more opportunities and the appetite is greater, says Joakim, 44, who has been married for many years and has never been exposed by his wife.

Uses own codes

Often the members of the various clubs and networks use signals and codes to find each other.

The sex network Lustkammaren distributes a towel with a special black pattern to its members, which they take with them to, for example, Österlen or Mellbystrand.

- The towel does not signal that you are available to anyone at any time, rather that you are curious and open. In the summer, not as many parties are organized, instead there is a lot of "beach partying", says Jonas Bengtsson, responsible for Lustkammaren.

The network's members are usually couples who want to meet someone together. Anyone who seeks the thrill of having sex with a new person is not unfaithful.

- I would never leave my wife, I love her. But I need the adventure to feel like I'm alive, says Jakob, 30.

A popular place for spontaneous sex meetings is Maria's campsite at Mellbystrand. According to the association Swedish swingers, the boldest exhibitionists seek a bit north to avoid "ordinary naturists" and families with children. Then you lie down in one of the sun pits that have formed on top of the dune. There are footpaths where a lot of people pass by who like to watch.

Signals with red tape

Swedish swingers also use a special way of communicating.

Members are provided with a red ribbon that they can attach to their beach bag, bike handlebars or sun lounger. With the red ribbon, the couple signals, among other things, that they enjoy caressing themselves and that they are open to sex with other beachgoers.

On the association's website, Swedish swingers describe the nude beaches as a way to form unexpected friendships and a source of freedom:

"We who are exhibitionists love that others look at us, not because we are so cocky about our bodies, but because people enjoy seeing us. And being able to look back. It's irritating when someone looks extra long. No one gets raped in a nude bath."

Meet on the internet

On the sex site Bodycontact.com there are many men who offer "dogging" - which means that strangers meet online and order a time and place to have sex, preferably as publicly as possible. And preferably with several participants.

The word dogging comes from those who claim they are "going out with the dog" when in fact they are doing something completely different.

One of the men writes on the site:

"Week 34 I stand every day between 18 and 20 in Södra Mellby's parking lot and wait in my red car for thirsty women. I've made a bed in the tailgate. Welcome girls!"
